The Hackensack-Englewood-Hudson Council and Life Member Club teamed up on June 20 to paint a playground map at he Horace B. Mann School in Bayonne, New Jersey. The painters, led by Life Member Dan Paken, five volunteers from the Council and ten volunteers from the school's PTA spent the day painting and learning some geography. Dan is a former Council, Club, and Chapter President. All of the volunteers had a great time and shared some great fellowship. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Life Member Highlights Hackensack Life Member Club holds a BBQ and Tricky Tray ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Warren Life Member Club held it's annual "Animal Shower" at their meeting on March 12, 2009. Two packed carloads of cat & dog food, paper products, bleach, litter, towels, garbage bags, etc. Were delivered to Common Sense For Animal Welfare, a no-kill animal shelter in Warren County, after the meeting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Warren Life Member Club took their cue from a memo from Steve Kohn to Dorene DeWitt and utilized their scheduled Cookie Packing Workshop on December 4th to take the time to write Christmas cards to soldiers as part of the Red Cross' "Holiday Mail for Heroes" Program. Club Members wrote short notes and signed 31 Christmas cards that were then forwarded in a single envelop to the program's address. The Red Cross has partnered with Pitney Bowes to screen, sort and deliver holiday cards to service men and women in the United States and around the world before the holiday. Gail McGovern, Red Cross President & CEO said, "This opportunity is such a great way for the public to personally support the military and say a special thank you for their service this holiday season", and the Warren Life Member Club couldn't agree more! It was a fun easy project for all those in attendance.
