Volunteer Projects of H. G. McCully #12 |
|
"Wheelchair Ramps"
Through the years, Chapter # 12 has received many requests
for wheelchair ramps. If at all possible, all the requests are
answered and the ramps are built free of charge for the people in need. One
of the happiest moment for a Pioneer is watching someone in a wheelchair
gain their independence and leave their house on their own. |

|
"Coastal Cleanup"
For the past ten years the Pioneers of Chapter #12 have
participated in a "Coastal Cleanup." They have partnered with H. G.
McCully Chapter #81 and their sister chapter from Telcordia, Chapter # 99.
Their longtime Chapter Environmental Chairperson, Tom Tissot, along with
hundreds of volunteers have cleaned the beaches of Seaside Park, Seaside
Heights and for the past 7 years the beaches of Sandy Hook National Park.
They have removed hundreds of tons of garbage from the beaches. |

|
"Annual Charity Golf Outing"
The Pioneers of Chapter #12 celebrated the 10th
anniversary of their "Charity Golf Outing" Each year 144 golfers play
for the bragging rights of Chapter #12's best and worst golfer. The
money raised goes to a local charity and to the Chapter's charitable
account. |

|
"Annual Holiday Event for Special
Needs Children"
Chapter #12 has hosted a "Very Special Christmas Party"
for the last 6 years. Each year, 100 special children and a chaperone
celebrate Christmas with the Pioneer clowns, Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Elves,
Vinny the DJ, and the rest of the Pioneer volunteers. Each child
receives a stocking and a gift. |

|
"Playground Maps"
Since the Playground Map Project was introduced in 1993,
the Pioneers of Chapter #12 have painted maps on school playground
throughout northern New Jersey. |

|
" 911 Simulator"
Pioneer, Doug Nearpass and his friends the Puppets teach
school children how to use Verizon's 911 phone system. Thee 911
Simulator was the signature project for President Lynette Singleton and
